EMCA Students Compete in Science Fair (Latest News)

East Memorial Christian Academy Students Compete and Win in the Alabama Science and Engineering Fair
Mr. John Johnson, Senior High Science teacher at East Memorial Christian Academy is pleased to have two of his students compete and win at the Alabama Science and Engineering Fair held at the University of Alabama in Huntsville on April 3rd – 5th. Junior Carly Evans’ project “Paper Under Pressure” won second place in the Senior Engineering Division: Materials and Bioengineering. She was awarded a cash prize of $75.00 for her second place position. Carly’s project also received two special awards at the Special Awards banquet held at the Van Braun Center in Huntsville. She placed first in the Boeing Company’s Engineering Materials and Bioengineering Division, and she was recognized by the Greater Huntsville Rotary Club for her outstanding project. She received a $50.00 reward from the Rotary Club. Senior Judson Meherg’s project “Sounding the Bass” placed 4th place in the Senior Physics and Astronomy Division.
This is Mr. Johnson’s first year at EMCA and this year was the first time the school has participated in the prestigious Alabama Science and Engineering Fair. Mr. Johnson and the school are very proud of how well Carly and Judson did at the fair. Both Judson and Carly won at the district fair held at the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama. They both placed first and second in their divisions, respectively, to qualify to attend the state fair in Huntsville.
